The Food Society

This new restaurant in Albany is THE SPOT TO BE. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, or to sit down and eat a delicious meal, this is the place to go. The menu and environment create the perfect “Scene” out of a movie.

The Food

Center – Small Brunch Platter, Top Right – Cold Brew with Cold Foam, Bottom Left – Peppermint Mocha, Bottom Right – Caramel Latte

The flavors of their Small “Brunch Board” ($22) taste perfectly together, and there is a little something for everyone. Whether you have a sweet tooth or are more of a savory person, there’s something for you. The description on the menu is “fresh pastries, fresh fruit, waffles, bacon.” This very accurately describes what you get. And the price is fair for what you are getting. The pastries can vary depending on availability for the day you decide to go. We received two mini waffles with syrup, whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and blueberries. Along with two raspberry pastries, a chocolate chip walnut banana bread, and an almond croissant.

In the top right of the photo is a cold brew with cold foam. The flavor of the coffee here is immaculate and is one of the least bitter I’ve tried. In addition to having amazing flavor, they also have an option to print a design on top of cold foam. This makes for a picture-perfect coffee. Their signature design is a lotus flower which they feature in many advertisements.

In the bottom left is a peppermint mocha with chocolate swirls on top. This is only available for a limited time, as it is on their winter menu only. Finally, in the bottom right is a classic caramel latte. They use both caramel drizzle as well as caramel syrup, this way you can taste the caramel without it being overpowering.

The above picture is just giving yet another moment to this classic caramel latte that leaves you wanting more. In addition to the coffee, they also offer many cocktails and early morning alcoholic beverages, including some classics like an espresso martini or a mimosa, but ranging to some of their specialties like “A Trip Down Lavender Lane” or a “Tiramisu Martini”. Either way, yet again a little something for everyone.

The image above includes a Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed Waffle (upper right), an everything bagel with cream cheese (bottom left), a French Vanilla Latte (upper left), and another Peppermint Mocha (bottom right).

The highlight of this trip was the Waffle. The creaminess of the cheesecake filling was the perfect balance to the fluffy texture of the waffle. The picture above depicts how perfectly balanced this waffle is. All of their dishes are very unique, including the waffles, toasts, and unconventional salad options that make salads much more interesting while still being healthy for you. The PDF version of their menu can be seen here.

The Setting

Enough of the food, let’s move on to the aesthetic and environment of this cute spot. They do have an option to book out for an event if you need to, in which you can contact them here. There is an adorable gold gelato cart, a champagne vending machine, and an additional large glass room for seating.

There were a lot of people in the restaurant at the time I was there, so I was not able to get many pictures. But they not only have a very nice and warm inside setting but also a chic outside area with swings/benches and tables with fireplaces in the centers. They have a lot of different types of chairs/benches on the inside as well, these make for some great pictures to post on social media, or just to relax in a comfortable setting with some friends or coworkers on a lunch break.

Overall, whatever you’re looking for, you can find it here at The Scene. The address is 1671 Western Ave Albany, NY 12203. Their Website is Scenecoffee.com. I’m sure they hope to see you soon!
